Down in Detroit

"Our dealership is closing."
Words that my friend Jen could barely whisper this morning through tear soaked eyes.  Her family owns a Chrysler Jeep dealership in suburban Detroit.  They received notice yesterday from Chrysler Corp. that their dealership will be closing as a result of the Chrysler bankruptcy.  This dealership has been in the family for generations. Her husband works there, her brother in law, etc. etc.  It truly is a family operation and she is devastated.  I pray for peace, clarity and patience for Jen and her entire dealership family.

  3. My prayers go out to your friend and her family be they imediate or those who are like family from the dealership. As an owner of a family business I can only imagine how devistating this must be. My heart truly goes out to them.

  4. Yuck.....

My bestie's husband works for Chrysler Financial and will eventually be laid off as well. They don't know when, they don't know if he'll get a severance package, and he found out by watching the news- NOT from Chrysler (they told the office two days later). They are so unclear right now on everything. Not fun at all.

  7. I think so many people outside of Michigan just don't understand the ramifications of the Big 3 Auto companies struggling right now...my husband works for a major window company and this past winter was very scary for us because I would imagine most of the customers who would've been buying would be those who worked for the auto companies...it is heartbreaking to see so many lose their jobs and homes...I am praying something changes and soon...almost everyone I know is struggling.
    God bless!
